Hey guys I have a Compaq Presario CQ5624P-B and I Wanted to know what motherboard I should get because its old and also the CPU to change it, is getting older as well. I know I can fit a Miro ATX Motherboard into it and a newer CPU. It has inside a AMD Athlon II 160u Processor (1.80 GHz), and a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 graphics car built to the motherboard. I really want to use this computer, but I want to change the internals to make it faster for gaming, internet use, and work related stuff. I really appreciate the feedback so I can use it to get this computer up and fast.

An upgrade I would recommend is going to a Ryzen 3 2200G and a B450 board when those launch. This will however require DDR4 memory, which will be a little extra in terms of cost.

You might also do well to replace your hard drive, going by the age of your computer I wouldn't expect it to still be worth keeping around except for data on it. Seagate Barracudas and WD Blues are good budget drives (=

Thanks for the option!  :D  their is also another thing, about the power supply I didn't get a chance to see how many watts it had and to see if it can support the load which I will need to check

Honestly, if the computer is that old, you might be better off just getting a new power supply as well.

I like my Corsair CX550M, although its little brother the CX450M will do as well.

It's a iddy biddy 250.  I'd replace it if you install modern hardware.

Not at this moment, although the Ryzen 3 2200G has an expected retail price of 99 USD, a motherboard for it can likely be found for about 90. Make sure you get a B450 board, not a B350 board.

To be honest I would not use that old Compaq from 2010 to base your upgrades/new build around.  I wouldn't consider anything from that system to be salvageable at this point.  If I were you i would start fresh with a new build.  Even trying to use that case you aren't going to have USB3 and the power/led connectors from a old pre-built like that aren't just going to plug into your new motherboard, the case also wont have proper air flow.

As for your last question, the B450 boards are not yet released.  The Ryzen CPU's Crunchy Dragon mentioned will (well should) work on current AM4 B350 boards but a BIOS update will need to be done.  The tricky thing about that is I don't believe you can flash the BIOS with the CPU it does not yet support, so easier to wait for B450 boards to be out if this is the route you are going.

well I get you and yea it seems logical that way, but I have a budget and also all these video cards are getting to expensive because of crypto-mining, I'll keep checking around and to see what i get for this computer.
