Hi all

Im having a problem with my graphics card after trying to overclock it again. When ever my gpu is under load the clock speed will drop lower then the idle rate. i tryed sticking the fans on 100% but it stills drops, to see if it was to do with the temp. any ideas? my gpu is evga gtx 970 acx 2.0 cooling ftw

hitting power limit? temperature increase also reduces clock speed due to how GPU boost 2 works. 100% fan speed cant stop this.

by power limit do you mean what im allowing in the overclocking software because before i overclocked it worked fine or is my power supply to low now?

What are the numbers? Clock speeds at load/idle?

Program used for testing? Program used for oc'ing? OC settings?

idle i get around 1164 mhz clock

i have used furmark and heaven benchmark, with heaven benchmark it takes around 15 seconds before the core clock will drop even tho temp is under 60 degrees and the load is 99- 100%. usually drops to around 700-900 clock when under load. i have no overclock atm but have used CAM and evga precision

thanks!

Ok, so can you run heaven or download superposition, really liking that one now.

On precisionx, turn the osd on and select pretty much everything to show on osd for card one. And get a screen shot so we can see whats its doing.

Should look like this.

Either that or open up the graph for it and run it in the background and get a pic that afterward. Also maximize it so its a bit easy to see.

Missing usage on there.

So ill start with the basics, have you tried this without cam being one?  I know it can do card stuff too and I'm not sure if they fixed the bugs for its interference.

A clean install of the drivers also getting an older version of precisionx?

I had this issue and it was a bug with the latest version of precision at the time.

Wonna check the boxes before we move into more detailed stuff incase its a simple fix.

Yea as in no cam on*. These programs are set to apply their settings even if they don't start with windows.

One or the other. Just easier to watch everything using precision. Just use one for now until the problem is solved.

Running the program full screen and at native resolution?

One of the programs are uninstalled now? Cam or xoc?

Also didn't see the updated screen shot.

If using precision, are the setting defaulted?

Can you re seat the card?

Also do you have gpu-z? A screen shot of that would be next.

is the gpu z and re seat means???

Taking the card out and simply putting it back in the pci slot.

Even trying another slot if you can.

Well its a step in the right direction. Seems to be software instead of hardware which is good. Turn the power to max on precision.

Cant say its an actual power issue as the card or system should crash if the cables were loose or the psu wasn't enough.

Guess you could go in the NVidia control panel, under manage 3d settings, turn power management mode to prefer maximum performance.

You don't have any other gpu oc programs running right?

The surprising part is the temps  are so high with such a low clock speed.

in the overclocking software. Power target is usually what it's called. I can see it's hitting 100% all the time in your screenshots.
