So essentially he has 900 dollars and a asus direct cu2 gtx780. He plans on basically just gaming within the budget what should i do? still go with the unlocked i5? i don't know to much about amd. Also need a board with enough sata connections for a few hdds in the future. Also probably thinking of going with a noctua d14 for cooler. but ive only got 900 to work with and nothing but the gpu.

Also everything will be being purchased from memoryexpress.com since we are just gonna drive there. we can price match to any Canadian site such as ncix.

Thanks everyone!!

im pretty sure ill just over clock his gpu a bit and the rest will be left he should be able to play bf4 ultra no lag. This is pretty much a dedicated gaming machine so just a ssd with a processor that wont bottle neck the 780 and he should be good. Maybe a 650rm psu to keep the thing quiet and the cords nice.

ultra in bf is kinda hard with no lag. From what i seen and heard is that game pushes any system pretty hard due to its gliches and bugs.

First thing to decide is AMD or Intel]

Then Overclocking CPU or stock

If he is not overclocking then you can just use stock cooler unless you think they are too loud.
Then you go from there

My issue is i know nothing about amd so i cant make a good educated decision on that. it will have a d14 and a samsung 840 in it. what i really need help with is the processor and mobo that will work in the budget and still perform great without bottle necking the gtx780.

This build retains the option to overclock the cpu should you ever want to. If you wished to eliminate the option you could save almost CA$100. The psu is semi-modular - motherboard power is fixed. Unfortunately MemoryExpress doesn't have a lot of psu options and the Fractal Design unit is much better than any of the alternatives. The cooler is more than needed, but it's quiet.
