Close A post

Hi,

My simple question is : How do I close a post that I no longer need (solved or not solved ) or is it possible to delete the entire post ? If so , how?

Use the little report button and ask a mod to close/delete it.

 

There's no way to lock or remove a thread yourself

Is it ok to leave post as it is  (unsolved, open)? Do I have to mark them solved and how?

You can leave posts as is, there isn't a requirement to mark as solved but doesn't hurt in terms of having a thread come to a conclusion.

Yeah you don't need to solve them, in fact most people don't bother solving them and just leave them open  

 

Depending on the section it's in, there'll be a "mark as solved" (I think it's only in the computer hardware sub-forums) that'll highlight the post at the top of the thread, and also add a little tick to the title when looking at the sub-forum so people can see it's solved.

 

For example -

 

the tick button would appear (when it's a thread created by you)

 

Choosing it would highlight the answer as the best answer, and show it at the top of thread.

 

Notice the tick on the middle one, that's shows a "best answer" has been chosen by the thread creator, and is more than likely a solved thread.
