7700hq Normal Load temp?

Go to solution Solved by Squanchy,

To whom finds this post, I replaced the thermal compound which did lower it by about 3 degrees overall. But what really did it was undervolting the cpu using XTU by -.15v on the core. No performance loss or crashing.. That itself dropped the temperature by -10c.

Good luck to whom finds this.

Hey all,

I have a GL502vs with a 1070 and a 7700hq... Mainly playing overwatch, decided to check out the temps.. GPU is at about 85c which from what I've seen is pretty normal for a laptop. But the 7700hq is right around 95c, peaked up to 98c... this is with fans at max.. Is this actually normal? I honestly don't think so... but anyone else have some insight?

That's pretty high, even for a laptop CPU in my opinion. Have you replaced the thermal compound?

XTU is awesome. I recommend anyone who buys a laptop with an Intel CPU to do exactly this.

I got a 0.175v undervolt on my MSI GS63VR with an i7-6700HQ, and that thing went from thermal throttling in Destiny 2 (the most demanding game I own) to sitting around 70C.
