4GB+8GB RAM Same brand

ehm, mixing 4gb with 8gb only won't give dual channel... both will run single channel

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

 

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

 

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

You ram won't give you support for dual channel if you go 4+8. But as long as they are the same CL and voltage, paired they should work together and give you a total of 12gb of ram.

Dual channel is when you pair two ram sticks of same CL, voltage, freq and capacity. let's say 2x4 or 2x8 etc. Dual channel ram has to be placed in the exact spots, those spots are mainly 1 and 3 from right to left. But you'll find out about this on your motherboard's manual.

Single channel is running just a single stick of ram, as I do. One stick of eight, giving me plenty of room to upgrade in the future.

My motherboard only has 2 RAM slots but is it really ok to game on a 4GB+8GB=12GB RAM? Games like AC Origins?

Yes you'll be fine with this configuration, dual channel makes little to no difference however the expected behavior is that while you're using under 8gb it will operate in dual channel as mentioned.
