Get slower memory, something in the range of 2400Mhz will be fast enough.

Also get a 250Gb SSD and a normal HDD.

As far as cases go, you can't go wrong with an NZXT S340.

This is in USD? I don't see much of an issue here. The only thing I would change would be to get a 1-2 TB HDD for most stuff on your computer and get like a 120 GB SSD for boot drive and any other important programs or files. Also, I wish that graphics cards were cheaper right now, nothing we can do about that though :(.

(P.S. Now that Crunchy Dragon pointed it out, yeah, slower ram might be a better choice)

Motherboard and CPU: your current CPU choice is not overclockable. and the only available board for Coffee Lake are Z370s that are overclocking capable. It might be better to wait for the B360 or H370 boards. This is due to the fact that you're paying quite a premium for the overclocking capability on the Z-boards. BUT if you plan to upgrade your CPU to maybe a 8600K or 8700K, then proceed.

You can also try a Ryzen build which are generally better bang-for-buck vs Coffee Lake. Especially with the pricecuts announced by AMD last January.

CPU Cooler: if you proceed with the i5-8400, you can pass on the Hyper 212X, at least for now. The stock cooler is generally good enough (unless you find it extremely ugly) especially when not overclocking.

SSHD: SSHD's are not really that much better than HDDs especially for gaming so I'd suggest just getting an SSD + HDD combo. If you can't afford both now, I recommend getting a 256GB SSD for now and adding an HDD for later.

RAM: You can MAYBE save some money from the RAM if you get a lower-speed 2x8 kit. But generally with the current pricing, there's not much of a difference. At least that's how it is in my country

Case: just get the cheapest one you find aesthetically-pleasing. It doesn't look like you'll be overclocking so you just need to make sure it comes with fans ahaha

Throw out the CPU cooler and use the stock to save some money. Get a different PSU (I recommend Corsair CXM Grey sticker PSUs), and don't go for an SSHD but rather get a 1tb HDD + 128 GB SSD, which will be cheaper and better. I would also go a little cheaper on RAM.

I don't quite understand how to put the SSD and HDD together and dose it while it's on load the SSD then before you turn it off it moves to the HDD

you just plug the each drive to its own SATA port.

when installing Windows make sure you install in ON THE SSD.

After Windows installation, you might need a few more steps for the HDD to show up on your computer (e.g. Disk Management and formatting).

After complete setup you'll find yourself with Local Disk C (SSD) and Local Disk D (HDD).

When installing applications and games try to install them on C: as much as you can.

Use the HDD only for storage of multimedia such as pictures/music/videos. You can also direct your download directory to the HDD for less clutter on the SSD.

any 1TB HDD will do fine, a crucial MX500 or Sandisk 3D/WD Blue 3D for the ssd.

Nice case thanks for the recommendation I am going with the elite case because the vr / headset wrap and the ram isn't a problem I rather have the faster ram but will it make my computer go slow aka bottle neck it if I don't?

It won't make it much slower, I doubt you'd see a difference. I haven't noticed a big RAM speed difference going from DDR3-1866 to DDR4-2133.

Overall, it is cheaper to get slower memory. You can always overclock it if you want it to be faster.

not really, they're neck-to-neck in performance so not worth the extra for the evo.
