Yes, the problem is that pin 20 is meant to feed 3,3v to an active adapter. Some cable manufactures decided to fully pin all their cables.

It can feed back into your GPU if your monitor has an active pin 20 (which alot have)

This is however an old problem and with a quality cable you should not have that issue. To be on the safe side try and look for a 19 pin cable.

Without knowing where u live, i would suggest a know brand and not a random Chinese ebay listing ;)

I looked on Amazon EU and can`t find any 19pin. And some of cable brands are not enlisted to be shipped to my country.

I found this two brand that can be shipped to my country:

https://www.amazon.de/KabelDirekt-60HZ-DisplayPort-Kabel-Version/dp/B01AWFQJBG/ref=sr_1_2?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1517595207&sr=1-2&keywords=display+port

https://www.amazon.de/AmazonBasics-Verbindungskabel-DisplayPort-auf/dp/B01J8S6X2I/ref=sr_1_3?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1517595207&sr=1-3&keywords=display+port

What do you think, are they safe from that 20pin problem?

The Amazonbasics does not have pin 20 connected looking at the comments.

The Kabeldirekt one i have no clue, but its the only one with ppl complaining of the two.

Is Amazonbabasic a good brand? I think I read before that they are not very good, that cable doesn`t support some reosultions as advertised. This cable has 22% negative reveiws, that seems too much for a cable...

Personally i would not pick either. So many problems i had with 4k monitors were cable related.

But DP cables are not rare or anything. Isnt there a shop nearby that has some computer stuff? That way you can try em out at least and return if needed.

U pay what u get for :D If it was HDMI it would say go for it. But DP tends to alot more picky so for safety i go for the brand names.

See if u can find Sharkoon. Where are you located? cuz there are many more options then amazon, but maybe not in your country?

Since I am buying something other from Amazon it would be simplier for me to buy DP there

I can find something of Roline DP in my country for 9€ but I don`t know are they good quality.

EDIT: I need also DP to mini DP adapter, do I need to be careful with 20pin on that adapter?

Maybe some DP cable from Ebay that is not chinese crap?
