just wanted to ask if it would be worth me upgrading from a intell core i5 6600k to an i7 6700k is there much of a difference perfotmance wise and how would it affect gaming

I'd upgrade to a 7700K unless you can get a 6700K for considerably cheaper. Don't buy either new though. 

 

To answer more directly: yes, you'll notice a difference. How big of a difference depends on the game. Every game that can take advantage of more than 4 threads will show a big leap forward, others not so much.

cool thank you for responding i was tempted with going for a 7700k but that would mean building another computer unless the 7700k uses the same socket type as the skylake

7700k will work with your current motherboard if you have updated it to the latest BIOS. As @NelizMastr said, do not buy it brand new. Buy it only if you can get it for a good price.

Spend less than $200 on that i7, then it's good. Otherwise, spend it somewhere else since $300 will get you an 8th gen system.

i forgot to say this is my motherboard yes i got the wrong bored as i cant overclock but hoping it will still support the i7 7700k
