i have a dell inspiron 7560 and since getting it i am getting pop ups by dell "2 new updates are available". If I click on it the laptop restarts in 15 mins but this keeps happening every other day. what are these updates even for? at dell it says for privacy and security but i am pretty sure that the updates fail to be downloaded correctly and keep on being delayed.

Definitely, something not downloading correctly. For it to be happening every other day is a bit excessive even with meltdown, maybe check your HDD and check to make sure its good.
