Box Store Clearance vs Build

Been wanting to build my son a gaming PC, but due to GPU prices have been unsure what to do. Found a clearance deal on a HP Omen that is almost worth it for card alone at current pricing. 

CPU: i7-7700

Memory: 16GB DDR4-2133(2x8)

HD: 1TB ??

SSD: 256GB

GPU: Geforce GTX 1070 8gb gddr5

motherboard: ?

Crap wireless board and mouse 

windows 10 64 bit

 

Is it worth $1250 vs building what I consider an outdated unit at a cost of $800 roughly or am I getting inferior versions of items because of box store unit?  

Really thinking about buying, but I really want to build as well. Thoughts?

Yes. Mostly because it comes with a video card, which you'll have a hard time finding for a decent price.

1070 cost around $900 right now, so i think for $1250  for the whole system is a good deal.

Make sure it is still has warranty.
