Steam games not booting from external HDD

Im having a problem with steam games not booting from the SSHD that i out all my games on. It says the game launches in steam but it takes like 2-4 minutes just to launch but it only launchers to black screen. Another problem i have is that my computer reads said sshd as named as my ssd. any help?

 

p.s.: if i unistal the games and put them on my ssd they boot normally.

I have no answer, but for information sake:  How is your external drive connected?

 

edit: ok fyi that's still an internal drive, just not the OS drive.  Doesn't matter when it was added, if it's running on internal connectors and power it's just a normal drive.

sata, its just an internal that i added later

I suggest using a program to check the smart information on your sshd, I'm not real familiar with the programs but crystal disk comes to mind.

 

Is the sshd one large partition? Have you attempted reinstalling back onto the sshd?

 

Again, I know little about drive managing, just throwing out ideas

Ill try crystal disk, it is one large partition.
