Hi there,

Basically I would like to fresh install windows onto a new SSD I am buying. I have created installation media via my USB. I was wondering if I can just go into the boot menu and boot onto the USB and install windows onto the new SSD. Keep in mind I would like to keep the HDD I have now and I would like to wipe it as well.

I hope someone can help me with this problem!

Thanks,

Josh.

What I would do is make sure the BIOS boot order has the USB at the top, then turn the PC on with the USB in and run through the installation process.

When selecting a drive to install to, it allows you to format what you want (Like the HDD you want to wipe).  You could also use DiskPart in repair options but you shouldn't need to.

Pretty much just like you said, although I would unplug all the drive apart from SSD during installation so that windows doesn't randomly decide to put some of boot files on another drive. Then when the installation is finished plug in other drives and format them.

So basically after I install windows with only the SSD installed, I plug the HDD in. After this would the already installed drivers on the HDD conflict? Or how would I set all that up? Like making the majority of new things after I format the HDD install onto the new formatted HDD?

Thanks for the help by the way!

When the installation is completed and you plug in the HDD, go to the BIOS an make sure the firs boot option is the SSD. After to PC boots into the windows on the SSD (there shouldn't be any conflicts), the old HDD should also appear in the windows explorer. Just right click on it and select format.

Once the format is complete and you start installing software just choose install location during installation.
