I just received a new Sandisk Ultra 3D 1TB SSD from ebay, while waiting for more components to build a new system, which I hope will also arrive shortly.

I was thinking of using an 2.5 to 3.5 inch bracket to install the SSD in an external USB enclosure I have, in order to test it while waiting for the other parts to arrive...

My questions:

  1. Is testing the SSD for problems using an external USB enclosure sufficient or should I wait till I connect it directly to the motherboard in order to run any tests?
  2. CrystalDiskInfo is one program I plan to run in order to check for any issues.
  3. Should I run H2testw to ensure that the size written on the disk is the actual size and that the disk is not a counterfeit or to check for bad sectors etc.?
  4. Any other programs and/or tests I should run?

Thanks in advance for any answers!
