NewEgg offers free returns:

Quote

Newegg will only pay for return shipping if an item is defective or unopened. The item must be within its Newegg return policy. To set up your return with a free shipping label, please use our online return portal here, and select "Defective" or "Unopened/Original Condition" as the return reason.

For eBay it's up to the seller. But eBay heavily favors the consumer when it comes to disputes such that it's possible to screw the seller over by demanding a refund without returning the product.

Not sure about NewEgg as I'm based in the UK.

For eBay, the cost depends on the seller, your location, the parcel size and/or weight and the service you use. For small items, some sellers may cover the return shipping, depending on the reason for the return. If they don't cover it, the cost will depend on where you're shipping from and how much the shipping company you choose will charge for your parcel. Without knowing all those details, we can't really tell you how much the shipping will cost.

ebay says if anything goes wrong within 180 days then you could try and dispute something using the refund feature.

I've had people do it 3-4 months with a bent pin on a FX chip.

Still don't know why they waited that long.

Kind of a douche thing to do, especially if it's a private seller on eBay.

Probably figured you wouldn't notice if they waited to file a claim, and they could end up getting it for free.

This sounds like a waste of money.

If you're returning the item because you don't like it (Eg: There's literally nothing wrong with it), then you WILL have to pay return shipping.

I'd assume you'll lose out on at least $10-$15, but we literally cannot tell you the exact amount, because it will depend on the size and weight of the package, what return shipping service you decide to use, and the pickup and delivery locations.

If you know the weight and size of the item, though, you can go online to USPS.com or UPS.com and calculate the costs yourself.

Seriously... save yourself the hassle, and simply buy one, not both. Especially if you somehow want free return shipping too.
