Opinion on this build

Scyl

Planning a new build for a friend.

Budget: ~$1200 AUD so ~900USD

Aim: Gaming and music production

Don't imagine her getting more than one monitor, no need to buy that either.

No need for keyboard and stuff.

She said she wanted a white case, but given the budget, I think black would give her more options?

This is what I have currently, what are you guys' opinion and recommendations? https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/WsFgTH

That's sorta typical AU pricing. There's a shortage of RAM, SSD, and GPU across the US and Canada right now.

I'd get a R5 1400 and a RX 570/1050 Ti if possible.

RX 570 is like $450 probably too much

1050 Ti is doable at $270

Any mobo recommendations?

Rather then getting such a low capacity ssd, use the money on other componets and save up for a bigger one 250gb or 500gb

I recommend looking at older GPU parts on Ebay such as the GTX 970 which is barely beaten by the 1060 6GB or a 960 which can just barely pull ahead of the 1050 Ti.

I have to agree on this. As long as you set up fast boot on the BIOS and you disable your startup programs, and I would recommend always disabling steam from just logging straight on, you'll find you can still boot up pretty quick with a good HDD.

I think the GPU is the one making the build a little over your budget. you see the RX 560 recently made the news and wan show that AMD was slowing it down through drivers updates to around a RX460 speeds so you could technically buy a RX460.
