can i run 144hz from motherboard

Go to solution Solved by shadowbutt7,

Actually Nm, i found a way to do it. basically you have to download intels hd graphics control panel thingy. and then you can set the monitors refresh rate from there.

Hello.

i recently just built a new pc, however i don't have my graphics card yet.

i have a 144hz monitor (kogan 144hz freesync) to be exact. i was wondering if a can run my monitor at 144hz through my motherboard, im using a displayport cable, but when i go into monitor settings its only showing me 64hz at 1080p. and yes i do mean 64hz, not 60hz, weird i know. ive tried seeing whats going on with my monitors own settings and i cant find anything, ive looked in my computers settings and i can still only run 64hz. when i turn my monitor on it comes up with a little banner saying "1920x1080 60hz"

my specs are:

mobo: asus prime z370-a

cpu: intel i5 8400

ram: crucial ballistix Lt sport 2x8gb

ssd: western digital green m.2 120gb

hhd: seagate 1tb hard drive

gpu: galax gtx 1070 8gb sniper white (getting in in a month)

also i cant get sound to come through my monitors speakers with display port, but it works when i plug my laptop in using hdmi, image.thumb.png.2c2653b6d3271fbbe5ede8fa053b215e.png

It's not going to work. Your MB output won't support anymore than 60hz for that board:

"- Supports DVI-D with max. resolution 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz
- Supports HDMI 1.4b with max. resolution 4096 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz
- Supports DisplayPort with max. resolution 4096 x 2304 @ 60 Hz "

Just wait until you get your card then you can tune all these things.

Ah yes you can indeed. I have my monitors at my office overclocked using that.

However, we were going on the specs from Asus which said nope lol.
