Thunderbolt to SATA

My problem is that I always have to get information off of my HDD's that aren't on my computer, and I really don't want to have to put in into my computer. Is there a good solution for this. Also it doesn't have to be thunderbolt, it could be esata, but i need to power the drives to if i use esata.

Here is an example of what im looking for.

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-GoFlex-Thunderbolt-Adapter-STAE121/dp/B006P1QWOQ

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.

no single 3.5" HDD can max out USB 3.0 anyway ...

usb 3.0 in theory -> 5 GBit/s

fastest consumer hdd:

Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1000DHTZ -> 210 MByte/s =  1.68 GBit/s
