This is just an idea, i highly doubt i will have enough money to build this or anything, im just spit-balling here.

So, hows this for a mining rig?

The 7990 is almost double the speed of a 290x (almost) so i figured its better than buying 2 290x's. also takes less power.

I also figured i dont need a special CPU but i figured i should get a half way decent one, idk, could i get an older cheaper one?

I also figured since it would be so hot in there the hyper 212 would be a good idea, was this silly?

And, the ram is the same as the CPU, figured some was better than practically none, could i get away with less?

and the case was cheap and looked like it had decent enough airflow.

Well? any idea? how would you improve it? Again, just an idea, not a planned build (would be nice to build though)

Also, litecoin and feathercoin mining is what would be the plan.

It's far off from double. The 7990 uses less power but still.

2 x 290x  produces ~1600Kh/s for a price of $1198

1 x 7990  produces ~1150Kh/s for a price of $1025

7990's aren't great mining cards not just for the heat. The bios on the card can make it generally difficulty to get a high hash, locking the cards at about 600 K/hash per core. Requiring a different and possibly custom Bios to get a high hashrate.

It's also a discontinued GPU not really available anywhere at this point.

Here's what you should look for when building a mining rig.

Cheapest, low power cpu available, and an open crate for a case.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

where did you get 1150? the 7990 in that build gets 1300Kh/s and with spending less on the PSU it come to be about even if not cheaper to go with the 7990and you are only missing about 300kh/s from it.

Your looking at like 900kh/s per 290x.. So far from equal...

The optimal the k would be three 290 non x's.

https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison 1150Kh/s is reasonable to me, I actually don' believe that people are getting 1500Kh/s with one 7990.
