AMD CPU Thermal shut down?

Just out of curiosity, do AMD FX CPU's have an automatic thermal shutoff point?

 

I've seen some people mention that it is available in the BIOS, but mine seems to only have an option for a "warning" when the CPU reaches a certain temperature. Could it just be that it's not possible to turn it off so they didn't put the option in there?

 

As well, I've read that the FX-6300 shouldn't go above 62C, but from everything I can tell the shutdown would be past that, will there be any damage to the CPU from hitting any shutdown temperature?

My AMD FX 8350 has (according to core temp) a TJ max temp of 90*C
this is the temp were the cpu starts to throtle the CPU and maby shut the computer down.

There should not be any sifnificant damage if you reach the shutdown temperature.
They put the shutdown temp were it is because any higher would harm the CPU.

(I had a water pump failure at one time and boiled a Phenom II X4 a couple of times and it was fine afterwards.)

Most CPU's are safe at 80c but 90c is critial temp and 62c is a great temp also the Bios limit is likely 90-95c so there no need to disable it.

Yes 62c is a great temp. i usualy try to keep it under 85c when i overclock.
