New build randomly restarts every so often.. help?

Hey dudes, so I just finished a new build yesterday and everything went extremely well, the machine posted first time with no immediate issues.

 

I chose these parts as I am a content creator on a Games Art degree at a university, and every once in a while the pc will sort of lock up and restart.

 

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the most likely issue would be and how to proceed with solving it.

 

Note: As of reconnecting my hard drives (2 HDD's and 1 SSD), my genuine copy of windows wasn't activated for the period of time leading up to myself typing this out. But has now been updated with a new product key.

 

I am really hoping that the RAM isn't to blame in this build as it would be very irritating and I know Ryzen has previously had its issues with higher RAM speeds.. It's running in the recommend dual channel configuration in the user manual.

AMD - Ryzen 7 1800X 3.6GHz 8-Core Processor

Corsair - H115i 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Asus - STRIX B350-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING Z 8G

Corsair - Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

Corsair - CXM 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Samsung Evo (cant remember number) 180GB SSD

Western Digital 2TB Hard Drive

Western Digital 3TB Hard Drive

 

Note: Re-configuring the windows key might solve this, so will update the thread if any further issues persist.

I would guess the vrms are getting hot and throttling, dropping enough voltage to cause a crash. b350 boards aren't built well enough to handle r7 cpus so if you can return that b350 board and get this or better https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qMdFf7/asus-prime-x370-pro-atx-am4-motherboard-prime-x370-pro

thats hardly the case if you have good airflow in the case. What is your case with how many fans, and config?

I have an NZXT Noctua 450 case. 

3x 120mm fans on the front as intake.

1x 120mm fan on the back as exhaust.

2x fans on the radiator (top) as exhaust.

with 6 fans the airflow should not be any problem for you, so i dont think its the vrms, you can always use a program(liek aida64) to monitor ALL temps in your system and see if they are getting too high.

No sir, I use Corsair Link to monitor my temperatures quite often. CPU is sitting at a cool 28 degree average at idle and only spikes up to 40 degrees maximum when using my preferred 3D modeling software.

 

Funny thing, as I was typing this out and trying to send a screenshot of my temperatures to you it crashed again, one of my monitors will black screen and the other just locks then it reboots.

 

I'm probably going to reinstall windows as of now as its good to do it after a considerable amount of time.

Why on earth would you pair a B350 with a 1800x ? LOL

It's like pairing a B150 with a i7 7700k. Okay.. not like that but it's similar. 

Look, you should take into consideration a better Mobo. Since that CPU is the highest they've got. 

As others said, maybe the temps are getting quite high. I would suggest you download Aida64 or every other monitoring program and 'stress' a bit your PC while watching over your temps. And maybe you'll get yourself an answer.

Can't find many places that look at vrms with an eye toward long term use, these guys say they wouldn't recommend even a r7 1700 long term http://stablecomputer.com/asus-b350-f-strix-review/  and in the comments over at gamers nexus on their ryzen board roundup it's said the vrm is on par with the x370 gaming k7, the k7s vrms are noted as anemic https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3131-the-best-amd-ryzen-motherboards-for-overclocking-x370-b350 You could always run a stress test like realbench and see how long it takes your computer to crash, then put a fan blowing straight onto the vrms and repeat the same test, should provide a significant enough difference to diffinitively say if that's your problem. Not aware of a program that will properly stress just one or 2 cores to push xfr and see if that's an area of issue though...

Ok, i'm going to run some stress tests then try a windows fresh install, if the problem persists then i will look into replacing the board.

Yeah. It's one of the top X370 boards on the market, paul's hardware made this video saying how great it was for ryzen:
