my house was hit by lightning last year and my ps4 won't work anymore. It would beep once and then it would turn off. I was told by sony that it was a powersupply problem but I replaced the powersupply and now I can't even get the blue light/beep then turn off.

Is it a powersupply problem?

It's most likely a problem with the ps4 motherboard itself, as I had a similar issue with my old motherboard on my pc

Any electrical surge is unpredictable as to the "path to ground" that electricity takes during the event.  Sometimes it flows just through the PSU, sometimes motherboard, sometimes out an ethernet port and into other equipment.

Immediately, PSU and motherboard should be replaced after such an event...after that, throw parts at it until it works.

Lightning = replace.  You don't want to risk getting electrocuted.

To answer your question, yes, there is technically a way to probe components and test if they are outputting the right voltages.  That does not actually test component integrity, just "outputting correct voltage/amperage right now".  But I value your life more than that, even if you don't.  Just get rid of it.

Also, this is entering the realm of an electrician.

You can always call Sony and ask.  I am sure that they have a service center that you can send stuff to.  Make sure you detail that it was possibly compromised by electrical surge due to lightning strike.  I have fixed stuff after lightning and sometimes there is some back and forth on the repair side because someone told me afterwards that lightning hit it and I didn't know to check extra stuff at first.

Many times, you have to go through an authorized repair center, but Sony can definitely direct you to a repairs depot.  Most companies will fix stuff out of warranty, if it is still supported.

Some insurance companies have the ability to file a small claim against your policy as well for a reimbursement of the repair cost.  It's usually after you get it fixed out of pocket.

One more question as I think I may have solved my problem but I need to make sure depending on the answer of this question. What happens if you don't have any power in the battery of a PC motherboard when trying to start it up with a PSU attached. Also what is the purpose of the battery if the PSU powers the motherboard?

It sounds like it would make more sense just to buy a new PS4. You'll probably end up spending more on parts than you would on a used PS4 or whatever,

but in the future make sure you use a surge protector so this sort of thing doesn't happen.

not possible I got no money right now and not sure what the future holds but the main point is I want to fix it if possible as I got to much time on my hands.

You'd need new parts to do that. It doesn't seem worth it to me, because you may end up replacing more than one part before figuring out what the culprit is and spend a lot more.

Here are the guides on fixing PS4s if you absolutely must, but again check out the prices of the parts first and compare that against how much a used PS4 would cost on ebay.
