First time posting so hopefully I havent made any mistakes!

Current Specs:

Mobo – Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard Rev2
CPU – i7 950 (Stock clocks)
RAM – Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz 6GB (3GBx2)
PSU – Corsair AX850
GPU – MSI GTX 590
HSF – Noctua NH-D14
SSD – Sandisk Extreme II 240GB
HDD – Seagate 3TB, Seagate 2TB, Samsung 1 TB, Samsung 1.5TB
Case – NZXT Phantom (Oldest One)

Currently my I find my card running too hot for my liking especially during summer (should've figured before I bought the 590). I'm looking to max BF4 @ 1080p and a card with a HDMI port (didn't need one until now), also running dual monitors.

I'm not sure whether to wait for the 800 series of GPU's from Nvidia or to upgrade now to something like a MSI Lightning 780 or a 780 Ti.

Was also thinking of whether my CPU/RAM is bottlenecking my setup and if I should upgrade to something like an i5 3570k or to overclock my current CPU instead.

Need some opinions or critique on my current build,
Also wanted to know if having so many HDD's including a SSD will slow down my computer in any way (bootup time etc) and whether or not upgrading to Windows 8.1 from 7 is worth it.

Thanks!!

This, or even less. Anything higher is a waste at 1080p. Go for a cheap old 660ti or the 760 or a 7878 or 270

770 wouldn't be an upgrade. personally i'd wait if i were you, 590 is a kick ass card even today, have to tried pointing a fan at your 590 or something of the sort? see if u can get the temp down a bit.

Temps run at 100 even at ~60% GPU Usage, I dont think it used to, but since formatting my computer and reinstalling on my new SSD the temps have gone up. Think it might be something to do with my drivers, definately not running like it used to. I don't have any internet at my home atm so I can't troubleshoot using old drivers etc.

Think I may just stick with a 590 and try to fix the issues.

Upgrade GPU to something like a 280x or a 770

Isn't that a bit of a waste, seems like im stepping down in performance for lower temps?

friend, 1.5GB (from the 590) of eVram is a "bottleneck" on this generation's AAA games  -_-

(dual gpu cards divide in half the ram they have)

buy a true 3GB card  ^_^

the R9 280x or 7970 from the red team or the 780 from the green team

APU = A10

Starting up the hdds do increase boot time but you can choose to not have to boot them to start up in the bios.

Your current system is fine. I'd recommend waiting for aftermarket 290's and seeing how they fare with the 780 and get whichever ends up better whether it's with performance or value.
