CPU Idle Temps higher after Case/Cooler swap

GigabitXe

I just switched my system over from a case that had no front intake fans and only a 80mm exhaust fan in the rear to a Cooler Master Silencio 352, which has two 120mm intake fans and one 120mm exhaust (I am and using Arctic fans that I bought separately). I also switched my CPU cooler over from a CM Hyper212 Evo, to a Cryorig M9i (which by my knowledge offers just about the same performance as a 212 Evo). However, despite the theoretical increase in airflow, my idle temps on my i5-4430 went up from 28-30C with the Hyper 212 and the old case to 36-38C with the M9i and the new case. I am using/was using the stock thermal paste that came with each cooler. This is the only thing that I can think of that would make this difference. Also, I just remembered that I have a tube of Arctic Silver 5 left over from a previous build and I am wondering if using that instead of the provided Cryorig paste would help. Any ideas on what is causing the increase in temps?

What is holding you back, to do some experimentation? Swap the paste.

I think I will do that. Be back to report once I am done. :)

Just switched the paste to Arctic Silver 5 and the idles are lower (31-34C). Still not the same as before, but much more acceptable by me.
