Help Need new router

We have an okay at best satellite internet connection and a terrible router.  Im going to buy a router tomorrow and need a recommendation. We watch hulu across a large house and it buffers quite a bit and when gaming i experience   Often lag. Are router now is 10+ years old actually. What router to buy??

Your going to want to spend $ on getting a decent router with a large house.  Most New dual band routers in stores are equal on speeds at close range.  The $ is in getting a router with extended range.  I don't have any good recommendations to give you.  Also you will want to use the 2.4g on the farthest areas in the house from the router.  5g offers a faster connection but very poor range.

anything under $200 is fine. And are any range extenders even effective or just junk?

Check out the the Netgear R7000P or the cheaper Netgear R6700.

if you wanna go MUCH cheaper, also check out the TP-Link Archer C7. Although tbh I'd go with the Netgears if I had the budget
