Windows screen gone grey

I can see the desktop home bar apps etc but the whole screen has gone grey. I am using an unactivated windows 10 for the official download site from Microsoft

You could try going to your device manager (My PC > Right Click > About my pc > Device Manager) and then find your graphics card, right click again and update the drivers using the button.

 

It sounds like an issue with your GPU to me, if the steps above don't help then let us know

Do three things:

1. Take a screenshot (Print Screen) - see if the image contains the odd colours

2. Take a photo of your monitor showing the grey background - compare to screenshot.3.

3. Post both images here (make sure to blur out any pertinent info like personal details, etc)

Good Idea.

Doing that might reveal the cause of the problem. If the grey background would be in the screenshot it would probably be a problem with the software (drivers) or your GPU. If it is not in the screenshot your monitor or cables might be causing the issue.
