So I built my first pc about 2 years ago and I've been out of the loop of computers for a while. I'm looking to upgrade my current pc to be up to spec with the current market today and be more relevant. I'm just looking for recommendations and don't have a specific budget but just want to improve on the overall performance.

My current build:

i5 4690k

MSI Gtx 970

Msi Z97 Gaming 5

HyperX DDR3 8GB 1866 ram

Corsair RM 650 PSU

The first thing I should do really is to buy an AIO cpu cooler since I can't be relying on a stock cooler so would like some recommendations on that!

Thanks!

Why are you upgrading, though? Those specs seem fine. Do you just want the latest and greatest?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

It just seems to be slowing down and I feel like its a pretty old computer, maybe I should try overclocking but I have yet to delve into the world of overclocking. I was thinking of buying a used 970 and configure it in SLI but I'm not sure if its worth it and should just buy a 1060/1070?

Are you using an HDD or SSD for your OS? If it's the former, you can probably replace just that. I wouldn't recommend SLi as a single 1060 would probably perform around the same as that and the 1070 would beat it no questions.

I'm using a crappy 120gb ssd for my OS but I am thinking of getting a 256gb/500gb ssd, or shall I just invest into another 1tb hdd? Just wondering how far my 970 will go in terms of games, since most games nowadays are more demanding

Are you experiencing any issues with your games?

How is your system slowing down?
