i have seen some buildlogs with a 'home made' case.

but what material and machinery do you need to make your own case?

any sketch programs to plan your build?

im just curious because i would love to make my own case!

any help/tips would be greatly appreciated!

BTW i know if i have to ask these questions i cant make my own case but i would love to learn these skills,

I know people have made woodcases and taken motherboard trays from cheap cases to get the expansion slot and the motherboard cut out.

Or go down the full plexi and LED route!

no way to hide my wires then :(

i would go ITX with a SFX PSU, with a bitfenix prodigy like shape with handles so its easier to carry around.

and WC ofcours!

a man can dream!

If you have access, or know someone who's got access to a lasercutter. You could make a 3d model of it in pieces in something like "SketchUp".. A free program.. Although laser cutters aren't free..

Everyone have a cool signature. I don't, so I thought I would write something.

- Cool right?

Unless your very good at sketchup it's ridiculously horrid. Laser cutters can be used however the beam being generated would be repelled by the metal ferrous sheet.

It's not worth investing in buying cheap plexi plastics. I'm currently designing my own PC case and alot of stuff goes into it.

Costs of machinery like drills, jigsaw, sand paper etc. A place to work.

You can easily design these things but its quite hard so you'll have to write a specification list and draw everything to precision.

Make a model of it in Solidworks and then 3D print that thing :P  . But seriously, metal working skills aren't acquired overnight, especially for something as fine as a case. However, getting a professional to do it might cost a whole lot.

i do know some people who have a welder and such, but that doesnt really give clean cuts (dont know what to call it but i think its a welder)

i know a civil engineer who does projects like these (no PC cases but he made his own speakers and amplifier) . maybe ill take some pictures up when i go there again!

3D printing would be a cool way, but is there a 3d printer that can handle such big projects? i dont think so...

Welding? Cases don't have any welds on them. If you do want to weld, the only real way to do it precisely is with a CO2 machine, not an electrode one. Then you might want to try to grind welds down. But I wouldn't even bother with welding...
