GTX 1070 improving

I have a Zotac Amp Extreme GTX 1070 and dont really want an upgrade as prices are now but would like to squeeze out more performance.

 

One of the steps is improved cooling, hence this thread.

 

Im thinking of putting a Coollaboratory Liquid Metal pad on top of the chip itself, as my cooler have a big copper plate that goes on top of the GPU.

 

I also plan to switch out the thermal pads on memory with Alphacool Eisschicht 11W/mk ones.

 

 

My question is about the GPU part, should I insulate the tiny transistors with nail polish before putting the GPU metal pad on, or anything else I need to do?

 

 

In the end I hope to push my 1070 to the limit of Pascal, maybe even do a shunt mod and maybe even replace the cooler itself, but I will start with this alone, just not sure how to do it without shorting my GPU transistors.

Before you want to use a liquid metal paste or pad, just do some benchmarks or gaming and be sure if gpu stays always on BOOST CLOCK or not. If it stays always on boost clock under LOAD , u dont have to use any metal pads or smt.

the cooling is not an bottleneck

i overclocked mine to 2.2 ghts with like 30% fan speed

how much are you expecting to get? I think you are expecting too much out of thermal pads.

We are in single digit performance % increase past 2000Mhz on core.
