Hey everyone,

I've found myself in quite a conundrum with attempting to retrofit an old Xeon x5450 processor to a Dell G33M02 MB with a LGA775 socket. Now you may be aware that the Xeon uses a LGA771. That's okay because it's adapted to LGA775. So theoretically it should work. But is doesn't. That would likely be because even though I have a compatible Chipset (G33), my motherboard does not seem to support a TDP above 65W. Therefore, I went searching for a new motherboard that will support this modded Xeon CPU. And I came across this Gigabyte Motherboard. According to this , the motherboard should support CPU's up to 136W TDP, up to 4 cores, and uses DDR2, which is what I already have available.

So I'm good right? Will this Motherboard work for this Xeon? If not, do you know of any LGA775 boards that may? And if still no, will it support a Core 2 Quad Q9500? I just so happen to have one of those laying around for this project.

Thanks in advance!
