Wierd SLI enableing issue

I upgraded today from my i5 4690k with z97-g45 motherboard to a i7-8700k with a z370, i tried keeping the windows install (ofc un and reinstall drivers) but i got a weird issue, in nVidia control panel i get the option to enable SLI like i did with the z97, but when i click apply, the screen flashes black once like normal and makes usb connected and disconnected sound also like usual, but after that, it just goes back to "Disable SLI", which also happend with a fresh windows install. The new motherboard came with a HB sli bridge, which i have no hope at all in getting fitted since the cooler is so tall on the MSi gtx 970s that i can't get to the sli tab to the right without using a flexy one, so does it matter the SLI bridges not being HB?

Both cards work fine in single GPU mode

 

What i have tried:

Drivers, 388.71 and 378.66 (which i don't even get the option to enable SLI at all)

Uninstalled GPU drivers several times with DDU and reinstalled manually without geforce experience

Different SLI bridge, but it is a old flexy one so it might be broke 

Running the display off different GPUs

Fresh windows install

Running Nvidia control panel as administrator

 

Any help is apriciated

Just double checking it supports SLI, which it does. Installed the latest chipset drivers from Intel? Loose SLI bridge perhaps? Just random thinking...

I just found the weirdest solution.... if i flipped the flexy bridge upside down (with the triangle pointing down) it enabled SLI without a problem... lol, as long as it works

That sounds like a loose connection. But yeah... as long as it works :)

Yeah it does, and im not suprised considering the two MSI 970 i have doesnt have the same PCB, one is a few MM taller than the other one and i have been using a hard bridge with proborly hasn't been the smartest thing lol
