My friend wants new budget gaming build & he asked me for help, as he's non-techy guy. So, I already chose some parts, but need suggestion on some parts. The chosen parts are:

---------------------------

cpu: Intel Core i5-3470

mb: MSI H61M-P31/W8

ram: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1600MHz

psu: FSP Group Gold aurum 550W 80+ gold

-----------------------

So now, I can't decide which cooler to take. We won't overlcock cpu, but don't want intel's stock cooler either.

And also we need video card. He's not hardcore gamer & he's got 19'inch monitor. I'm thinking something like GTX 660 or something equivalent to it from AMD.

What can you suggest us for those parts?

| CPU: i7 3770k | MOTHERBOARD: MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming | GPU: GTX 770 | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident X | PSU: XFX PRO 1050w | STORAGE: SSD 120GB PQI +  6TB HDD | COOLER: Thermaltake: Water 2.0 | CASE: Cooler Master: HAF 912 Plus |

A cooler master evo 212 and a MSI GTX 760 ITX should do you good.

Yep, I thought so about evo 212. It has 1k 5 stars in reviews on amazon. So, I think that cooler is good for us. GTX 760 is way too high for that build & all in all he has 19 inch monitor with no full HD resolution.

Whatr about a MSI R9 270 Twin Frozer? MSI lineup is well made and great for the pricepoint/overclocking

The 270 is a good option

Yes indeed. I have the MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozer. The Twin Frozer lineup is super solid for cooling. Super silent and one click overclocking.

Iv got the R9 270x Sapphire Toxic edition and its absolutely amazing for only £160 If you can stretch that much they wont need an upgrade for a LONG while, if not others suggested are very good options

I just checked benchmarks of r9 270 & gtx 660 & they are almost neck to neck, just r9 270 is little better & newer. And they are almost same price, so I think we're go with R9 270 & Hyper 212 EVO.

I also changed psu from 650 80+ gold to 550 80+ platinum, as I used power supply calculator web site & it said our computer gonna consume 324watts, so 650 was very overkill. Even 550 is overkill, but just for free room...

Hyper 212 Evo and Gtx 670 DCUII. The reason I reccomend the 670 over the 760 is because it has approximately 5% better preformance.

We could really use a budget...

Are you only shopping from Amazon or are you open to other US shops?

Did you but the parts you mentioned in the beginning already?

What about the storage/case?

What's so bad about the intel stock cooler? If you're not oc'ing it's enough and it's far from loud if you ramp it down with decent case airflow.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

  1. We can shop only from Amazon.
  2. We didn't buy them yet.
  3. We already have storage & case from current build.
  4. Case is very cheap with bad airflow system, so stock cooler will be loud & temps won't be good as well.

We've asked for the budget for a while now...
