Ram wont post past 3000mhz

I have some G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3200mhz ram on me, but I can't get it to go past 2933 in the BIOS.

I'm using a Ryzen 5 1600 on an MSI B350 Tomahawk motherboard, any tips?

You changed your bios for XMP in memory configuration ?

You are aware that these are not made for Ryzen ? The Flare X series is optimized for Ryzen

This was a very prevalent issue during the first couple months of Ryzen so the first thing you should try is look for an updated BIOS revision on the MSI product page. That might allow you to run your RAM at 3200+.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

How many sticks of ram are you using?  If you're using 4 sticks, 2933 is the max it will go.

I believe G.Skill Ripjaws is using Hynix memory, which is kinda spotty with Ryzen (even though it is advertised to hit 3200MHz).  If you want ram that is guaranteed to hit 3200MHz with Ryzen, you have to get Samsung B-die memory such as the G.Skill Flare X series.  I had Corsair Vengeance LPX (Hynix) and it wouldn't boot past 2933MHz, but once I switched to Flare X, it hit 3200MHz 14-14-14-34 no problem.
