I have a system that will randomly turn off every so often. Maybe happens 2 or 3 times a month. By turn off I mean on for one second and off the next like someone pulled the cord. I have to press the power button to get it back on.

It doesn't appear to be related to what the computer is doing, could be browsing the web, or reading an email or idle.

Temps all appear to be fine both under load and idle fans appear to be working normally as well.
I have checked the event logs in windows the only thing I see is a Kernel Power error, saying the system was turn off unexpectedly. No errors apart from that, as far as windows is concerned it just loss of power.

I have swapped out the power supply with a spare but that didn't fixed the problem. So I put the original one back in (It was a newer and better supply anyways). I also tested both supplies with a power supply tester and they pass all voltages within tolerances.

I have updated all drivers in the system

I have updated the BIOS

I have ran memtest and a stress test overnight no issues.

I have tested the wall socket it is wired correctly.

I have tested the UPS the computer is connected to, battery is good.

I have cleaned the system (blown out dust).

Any ideas? My next guess would be replace the motherboard? This is probably not software related correct?

Specs

Motherboard: Asus sabertooth Z170 Mark 1

CPU:I7 6700K

Video card: Nvidia GTX 750 ti

Power Supply: Corsair RM750X

Thanks :)

Try running your system without the UPS, or try getting another power supply, just to see if yours has a defect

Im guessing you have removed any overclocks from your CPU and Graphics card.

I would do a RAM test, Either memtest86 or the Windows Memory Diagnostics, found in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools

Yep all overclocks have been removed, the BIOS is all set to defaults.

Any luck by removing the UPS?

I wish I knew :)

This random power off only happens randomly once or twice in a period of 2 or 3 weeks. so come back next week (or the week after or the week after the week after that) for the exciting reveal!!!
