I7 6800K vs I7 6850K

So the specs are almost exactly the same however the 6850K is cheaper (350$) then the 6800K (425$) I’m so confused can somebody explain this to me

The 6850k has more PCIE lanes and is clocked higher (the latter is irrelevant since you should be overclocking anyway). So unless you plan on running three/four way SLI (which is shit, and isn't even supported on modern Nvidia GPUs anymore), a 6800k is just as good. The 6850k being a better price is just a matter of random sales and whatnot.

The 6850k is generally the better chip, faster clock speeds and a higher number (lul?). I'd go with price and the 6850k if I were you.

I'd go for neither and just get an 8700k, will outperform both of them and comparing cpu + mobo cost, work out around the same.

Unless you absolutely need extra PCIe lanes and a little extra cache(I think they have extra?) no point getting Broadwell E honestly.

Do you already own a X99 board?

I'd imagine you don't if you're comparing the 2 lowest end X99 CPU's, so being a different socket shouldn't(doesn't) matter.

If the 6850k is better why dose it cost less

Random sales and whatnot or maybe Intel decided to keep producing the 6850k and stop producing the 6800k.

I do, I’m building my pc from scratch and already have a x99 board

If you're still able to return it, that'd be a better option honestly.

Ah that sucks.

I'd go 6850k, if you plan to do anything more than gaming(streaming, recording, editing, content production etc) the extra cores will come in handy, and both should be able to OC to around the same.
