Hey guys! So i was reading about integrated GPUs like those that come generally in laptops but also in desktop APUs, but i didn't get something:

 

From what i've got, it doesn't have it's own VRAM, so it takes what it needs from the PC's available RAM and the max ammount is limited in the motherboard. So if you have let's say 32Gbs of RAM and somehow configures the max ammount to be 32Gbs, can the integrated GPU possibly reach like 10Gbs or more? Does something else like it's clock limit it's performance?

I think Intel integrated graphics has a limit of 1.7gb, not sure about various APUs.

If the firmware supports it, possibly. But there's no point. The igpu isn't fast enough

They have a limit which fits their performance does not make any sense for the GPU to block more resources than it can handle due to performance limits. An integrated Graphics Chip will not outperform any half Decent Video card even from a few years ago. Also using Ram is a bottleneck in itself compared to direct connected Dedicated faster VRAM.

DDR4 ia a thing, which helps with memory bottlenecks some. Dual channel 3200 MHz DDR4 should be approaching 50GB/sec. For reference, my GTX 960, a card substantially faster than any iGPU available, only has about 112 GB/sec of memory bandwidth.

This would likely be a firmware limitation. While modern iGPUs can perform remarkably well if their limitations are kept in mind, they are not meant to replace dGPUs in demanding tasks. Tasks that eat upwards of 2GB+ of VRAM are likely to fall into that category.

960 is OFC more capable even a 750 Ti does a much better job than Integrated graphics so far. But yea there intended for Office tasks not gaming or any other intense GPU tasks.
