Right cables

Anybody know if SFP+ cables are specific to the card? I bought 3 cards all mellanox 1 2 port and 2 single port when I bought them on amazon I did a bundle and just hit the icon for "people who bought this also bought this" and didn't realize that the cables are for ubiquiti cards I have 1 mellanox cable on the rig that works but I can't seem to get the one system logged into my NAS I did ping both ip's that I assigned to this rig and they came back fine, the cable ends appear the same but it looks like two of the traces are a bit different thinking this may be my problem? any takers? Guess I could move the working cable to the other rig but before I ditch the cables just making sure they are wrong

SFP+ is basically just a plug. You need to add a gbic card into them. there are "cables" with gbics in them, but it must be supported by the device.

Quality maybe little different but all all should work

but havnt see any good test for various brands/ cards combination.

You can google for days without a conclussion, its still mystery stuff for consumers.
