You need to consider electricity costs too though. Gaming is price to performance. Mining is price to performance to power draw. You want a card with good performance AND a low power draw, which the 1070 will get you.

profit varies with the value of the coin, so don't get worked up over that.

Care more about hashing speed and the power required to get that speed.

Hashing speed on the 1050ti is 12 and on the 1070 is 26 meaning 1050ti will give more

so 135 MH/s for 6x1060 @ 540W (4 W / MH)

or

166 MH/s for 12x1050ti @ 840W (5 W / MH)

or

120 MH/s for 4x1070 @ 480W (4 W / MH)

same price... seems like the 1050ti's are NOT the efficient way to go here...

dude, will you forget profitability here for a second? If you're only after one specific coin to support their network, you're going to get whatever you get. If you're looking to max profits, you need to stop thinking about which card will pull the most profit, and start thinking about which cards are the most efficient.

At the moment, like we were trying to hammer into you last night, the 1070ti's are the most efficient cards for mining today. It leaves you room to grow (a 12x1050ti rig doesn't leave much for expansion on a board) and simplicity in management.

only if you're looking for absolute performance over efficiency. otherwise no. The best i got with the 1080ti on equihash was ~3.5 Sols/W compared to my 1070's which are getting nearly 3.8 Sols/W. 1070's pull about 120W each (average 450Sols/S), the 1080 pulls 200W (average 700 Sols/S).

considering the 1080ti is an $800 card and pulls 700Sols/s and the 1070ti is a $450 card, pulls about 500 Sols/s you get an extra 300 sols/s for $100 more. granted density is higher with 1080ti's, but most folks don't have that kind of cash laying around to build a 2000W 7Ksol/s rig.

only if you already own the card, not worth buying just for mining, 2 1070's is cheaper with a higher hashrate to wattage

Wouldn't it be more efficient to use 1080ti in a 6 PCI-E slots MB, than buying 2 MB's for 1070?

do you mean by efficiency the power consumption? btw it's 0.07 $/kWh at my country
If not 1080ti, what about the 1070ti?

sorry I'm new to mining

i meant exactly what i said.

power vs. hash rate = efficiency.

Oh yeah, only certain currencies will allow you to do this, but the beauty of it is that you get to choose what to mine and thankfully Ether is pretty big right now, big enough that it's what you want to be mining.

I donno, 2.60/day isn't exactly making out like a bandit... I mean Zclassic is pulling a full dollar more per day with the RX480 at 290Sol/s (granted that's 2.41sol/w, which is atrociously inefficient) than Etherium, and that's Equihash algo not Ethash. I think at that point, you're hedging heavily on an appreciation of value over time...

1070 will have a better resale when the time comes to sell the cards.  I've been finding 'refurbished' 1070 FE's for $329 at Microcenter (when in stock).

It will also be easier to add additional cards (considering you start with a supported board) if you start with 4x 1070's.
