Overclocking Dram with Ryzen

Thinking about buying Ryzen 5 1600 or 1600x. Still not sure about Dram overclocking. Heard something on LTT youtube that Ryzen 5 1600 (non X version) stuck to 2933MHz Dram and the Ryzen 5 1600x can make a 3200MHz.

How can you comment it? And what Ryzen better to buy (1600 or 1600x)?

Buy 3000MHz memory, set your timings to those indicated with XMP (or whatever AMD calls it), and note down those values. Reset memory to stock. increase the frequency from it's designated "3000" to "3200" or so, with all the previous timings placed manually, and validate.
