Welcome to the Vive Club!

1.  Make sure you redeem your FO4 + Other software bundle when you get your vive.

2.  Sign up for the Vive Port trial that lets you try a few games for free.  ( don't forget to cancel the trial)

3.  If you're not into drilling,  check youtube for possible PVC pipe solutions for sensor mounting.

4.  If you're near a TV or anything that you can totally wii mote status,  consider putting something there to prevent damage

5. Consider a cable management system.  If you have room,  You can ceiling mount one.

They sell adhesive ones,  but they don't work well with popcorn cielings.  I got around that by doing this

If you have disposable income,  look up the TPCAST.

I REALLY suggest you get a cable management system.  I tripped over my cords playing GORN and jean claude van damme Guile'd my TV face first.  55' 4k down the drain ;(

6.  Buy some zip ties for your sensors, see pic above.

7.  If you can get the deluxe audio strap,  its completely worth it.

8.  Download The Lab.  Its a free demo game that I come back to alot.  The archery game is great!  I'd also recommend GORN ($20) Rec Room (free) Pavlov VR ($10).

9. Buy some kind of protection for your wands / HMD.  Silicon straps,  or 3d printed shields,  you're going to bang them on things alot.

Hyperkin makes great products

the cable management system I use

the project is available on thingiverse.

10.  Don't buy any fancy HMD holders at least for your controllers  I used 2 x https://www.amazon.com/Command-Designer-Medium-6-Hooks-17081-6ES/dp/B002VP6TIY/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1513898634&sr=8-8&keywords=Command+Hooks

these.  You can get them at walmart for about 4 bucks.

11. Replace the face mask with a thinner 6mm one.  Then tighten the Vive closer to your face.  It increases your FOV, bringing the sweet spot easier to focus in on targets.

12.  Bored with your Vive?  Developing for it in unity is free, and there are lots of resources online!   A lot of the unity tutorials online can be applied to VR as well.  Blender also works well in conjunction.
