Taking out PCIe GPU causes network to be disabled

So here's an interesting problem. My main server is an old(ish) Dell Optiplex 3010, running Ubuntu server 17.04 LTS. When I had set it up initially, I had my low profile GT610 in it, as I didn't need it anywhere else and it wasn't doing any harm being in the system. But I needed it for something, so I shut it down, and took it out. To my surprise when I rebooted, my ethernet stopped working! ifconfig only showed loopback, and even though lspci still sees the ethernet chip, I couldn't find anything obvious to get it to enable the adapter again (I guess it is disabled?). Any suggestions?

Not actually the database software, just some furry. Vintage tech enthusiast, has more old tech than they know what to do with.
