So at some point today, Windows 10 decided to install the Creators Update again, and when I logged in, everything was unresponsive to not working, so I went into settings update recovery and did 'revert to previous build', it did that, restarted

aaand now nothing works:

-The 'Settings' app won't open

-ctrl+alt+del only shows black screen

-Nvdia Control Panel won't open

-Chrome won't open

-On the log in screen my profile pic icon thing doesn't show up

-taskbar and start menu get stuck all the time

-half of the time the sleep shut down restart options just show a black screen with the mouse working

-I for some reason have a shortcut to Nvidia 3D Vision Photo Viewer on my desktop that wasn't there before

-the login screen is in the wrong language

-running programs as admin doesn't work because the 'do you want to run this program run cancel' window doesn't show up, instead it just slightly tints the

whole screen

-nothing except for cinebench opens

(but that is on a different drive)

-everything is just unresponsive in general

Sooo what does work?

-file explorer

-control panel

HARDWARE:

Intel Core i7 6850k (overclocked to 4.2ghz, resetting that doesn't help)

64 GB G.skill trident Z 3000Mhz

Asus X99 M-WS

2x GTX 1080 SLI (Founders Edition)

480 GB HyperX Savage (sata) SSD boot drive, 2 TB Samsung 850 EVO storage drive

PLS Helllllllppppppp

Thanks.

I would run updates and make sure everything is up to date. Sounds to me like windows is missing some files or some files became corrupted with all the updating and rolling back. Worse comes to worse, I would reinstall windows and select the keep all files option, than run updates.

I can't run updates because the 'Settings' app won't open.

You might have to manually reinstall windows from a usb stick and when you do make sure to select the "keep my files" option so you do not lose your data. You will likely need to use another computer to create the recovery usb stick.

I have the original Windows USB drive,

so I can try that I guess.

OK, if that were the case, would that be fixable?

Thanks.

Do you have a second account on the computer? If so does the problem persist on the second account?
