GTX 1060 3GB

Splodge1231

Hi,

I am able to choose between the Palit GTX 1060 3GB (All linked below), the Asus GTX 1060 3GB (Mini) and the EVGA GTX 1060 3GB Superclocked (Singe Fan). I am looking for raw non-overclocked power. I don't really have an issue with power or thermals (Unless of thermal throttling). I can get them all for the same price.

Thanks

Personally, I'll get the cheapest one since 1060 isn't a very hot card and doesn't need a beefy cooling. However I do prefer 2 fan solution instead on single fan since the card will run quieter. I'll lean towards Palit Dual.

Desktop specs:

Yeah, pricing isn't an issue, I'm just looking for the most performance

They are pretty much all the same. Even the slowest 1060 3GB card is about 5-10% less performance compared to an OCed 1060 3GB. If you want the most performance, step up to a higher model is a much better decision.

Yeah, sorry, heard that too many times. I am literally at the end of my budget and can't go any further. It was this or a 970

The Palit one you have listed in this thread is the 6GB option... You said you can afford all of the ones you have linked?

So why would you go for the 3gb option..? Plus the Palit one has dual fan

Still.... I second buying the 1060 6Gb it's much better. I have the EVGA SSC and it's great and so quiet and cool.

Try these, they aren't too much more and will be far better, especially in VR.

Ok thanks, I will consider it

Would definately be worth your time and the extra cash...

However, if you really cant stretch to £250 (Which i can't stress how much you should try too) then go for the palit one, hasn't got the best looks but its dual fan so should keep colder which also helps if you ever want to OC

Yeah i would personally go dual fan either way, or triple fan, but your budget doesn't accommodate for that.

Just stop. The best  1060 3gb vs the worst 3gb difference is marhinal tou wont even notice it, number of fans dont matter the card runs cool anyway, the 6gb is  like 5-10% stronger than the 3gb does it mean its worth  80£ more? nothe value card is  the 3gb  just get it dont look back.  But if your about to pay more for a 3gb to get fancy scc version than just get the cheapest 6gb youll have better value there

The EVGA SSC 1060 6Gb I got is really, really nice.... no coil whine... dead silent... Runs games around 55-60c. The 3Gb would choke on the AAA titles far more because of the small amount of Vram. I can't imagine using 3 Gb from the 3.5/4 in the 970 which stuttered in Wolfenstein 2. People have stated that the 970 and 1060 6 Gb are close in performance but in real world gaming depending on your system I don't think the 970 is really as close as people think. I not only gained FPS but I gained quality as well.

I was able to max out Wolfenstein 2 but I had to turn down settings on the 970 to maintain a decent 45-60 fps but the 1060 handles it like nothing at a locked 65 fps.
