So next year I'll be starting my education in software development and I need a capable laptop. The school listed some minimum specs: Quadcore I7, 16gb Ram. Apart from that It's obvious that I would greatly benefit from an SSD.
I'm looking for something that meets those minimum specs and has a good keyboard and screen, trackpad is less important, I'll be getting a mouse. Battery life is also not much of an issue because there's chargers everywhere in the classrooms. My budget is about 1000 EU (I live in The Netherlands) my max is 1300.
If possible I'd like to have a dedicated GPU, but it doesn't have to be very powerful, it's not a priority.

Good news.  They basically don't make i7 16 GB laptops without an SSD, so you'll have the storage you want.  Pretty much every manufacturer has something with the specs you need.  I would go to a store where you can sample a few to try out and figure out what you like.  Then find the one you like best that meets your spec and price.

Thanks, but we only have Mediamarkt over here and not only do they only sell shit products, they also grossly overprice them. Webshops unfortunately are the only option, that's why I'm asking around on the forums.

Dell inspirion 7577

I went from a macbook pro to this and i have no regrets, its a pretty good gaming laptop, and if you can get it on sale, its honestly a steal because it's significantly cheaper than other 1060 laptops (the max q design is 10% worse than a regular 1060) the only caveats is that the battery life is short, like most other gaming laptops and the chassis is made out of plastic, but well made.

It looks like that model is not available over here, it would be way out of my price range anyway. Thanks though.

OK, If Dell is available there, the inspirion 7000 series can be had with your specs and price range (i think).  I would have a look there.  http://www.dell.com/nl-nl
