Hello there!
So I was trying to move AppData folder to another drive as my C drive which has windows installed is small. I tried google out the process and Microsoft support page is so confusing. I tried to do this mklink /d C:\Users\user\AppData\Local D:\AppData\Local process and succeeded? Anyway after tried this and that I ended up deleting appdata folder which led me to some problems and I eventually had to reset windows. T.T

If you guys can tell me definite way to move that folder that would be very helpful. I'm using windows 10 64 bit .
Regards.

Is there a reason you wish to move it specifically?  I can think of countless other folders that it would be easier to move

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

That's not really a good reason as it's gonna cause lots of problems and you'd have to re-link it for everything just as @Ryan_Vickers mentioned. Literally every non-system folder is easier to move...

I assume you want to save space yes, but why are you moving this folder as opposed to another one?  You've picked one of the hardest possible ones and so unless you have a reason for that, I would suggest trying something else

Most likely going to eventually run into issues moving that folder. Some programs don't see/like symlinks, and others don't use the (correct) environment variables.

That seems unrelated to moving it. If you delete it, you're going to run into issues because some programs (including windows) stick stuff in there that they need to function.

I've 98 gigs of total space on that folder and appdata took around 20 gigs. This folder grows in size gradually . guess I'll have to move programs 86 bit to another drive. I don't have any other files like games , photos, music installed in C drive.

I see now.  Have you tried doing a disk cleanup recently?  AppData contains the temp folder which can sometimes get quite large.  There are also other things in there that could be removed.

I would advice against using symbolic links. If you ever need to do system restore, those will need to be done again. Way too much hassle imo. Rather save for bigger drive or be very careful what you store in boot drive.
