Hi, I want to start with I have absolutely no idea where to put so inform me if I’m wrong.

Anyway, my computer every so often will just compleletly lock up and just like completely freeze and my only option is to push reset and restart everything. I’ve tried Control Alt Delete and that don’t work. The pc is in a completely frozen state. Video will stop playing so The is appears to be completely stuck and leaving it just wastes power cause it’s never unstuck when I come back. It normally happens when I have chrome open and a lot of the time while video is playing.

Does anyone know WTF is going on with my pc. It’s not a major problem to restart since it boots quick it just can do it while writing an important word doc and I actually loose the work which isn’t handy.

PC Spec:

CPU :AMD FX-6300 6 Core non-o/c

MOBO: Gigabyte 940M UD3P (I think I  got the model no right if not, it’s something similar.)

RAM: 16GB Corsair non-vengeance DDR3

GPU: Palit GeForce GTX 750ti non- o/c single fan

PSU: Pulse 800W 80+ ?

Storage: Boot - 240GB Kingston

              Main - 1TB Seagate 7200

                          rpm

If anyone had any theories or ways to “save” my machine in future freezez let me know. There is a fan with a bad bearing which I’m aware of but it’s still spinning and it was an extra I added cause it was lying around

Event Viewer in Windows might give you some idea of what is causing the problem. If you're running Windows 10, right-clicking on your start button will give you the option for Event Viewer.

Dust out your system as well, in case it is thermal related.

Case cleaned out about every 3month and it just got a clean about 8 days ago.

I think you are right on saying it’s my cooling. I am using stock cooler but what I don’t get is why it happens when I am in chrome. I start my computer then go on chrome and it can happen if I have like 2 tabs open on just google docs and gmail and I don’t get why

I will say that my case really doesn’t lend itself well to airflow. I am gonna change it tho so hopefully that helps

if it aint about temp, you may have a bigger problem.

check your system file for corruption

right click at the windows logo and select command prompt (administrator)

and then type : sfc /scannow

reinstall every driver for your peripherals.

if it still not fixed, reset your pc in recovery mode.

refit your rams, you might wanna clean them beforehand with some damp cloth / alcohol.

and then test the integrity with Memtest86 .

if everything went through and still having problems, maybe its the psu or failing motherboard.
