Input lag with 8bitdo controller on Nexus 5x

I'm using an 8bitdo SF30 with the v4.01 firmware (latest) on a Nexus 5x. I have tried using several emulators, but SNES and GBC and I end up with about a second of input lag. Has anyone had similar issues and how did you solve them?

 

I just tried plugging it into my PC (running Windows 10) with a cable and it works fine in SNES9x 1.53. So the problem is definitely my phone.

EDIT: Restarting Bluetooth on my phone fixed it. Weird problem.
