Why are some devices limited to 64gb micro sd cards when you can get them as large as 256 or even 512?

Typically these "limitations" just means they're not officially supported. Doesn't necessarily mean they won't work. My guess is because those capacities aren't common enough yet and I've heard aren't that stable to begin with.

Could be the protocol they are using to communicate, or it could be that there was nothing larger than 64 available when the device was made so they just say that but it would actually do higher if pushed.
