none of the display ports are working on my mobo. all of the drivers are up to date

If you are not using integrated graphics they will not work.

You're using a GTX 1080 -- connect your monitor displays to have back of your graphics card, and NOT the back of your motherboard.

i am already occupying the hdmi port and i just was too lazy to buy another DP cable

I don't see why it would. It's just turning on the gpu.

Now it is not posting. After changing the igpu on it booted up normally but now it will not post after another restart

Check to see if it works if you plug the monitor into the iGPU instead.

Also see if you have some sort of multi monitor mode or something. It seems like you may have a setting that lets you enable iGPU and gpu.
