I just thought up the idea but it may be totally stupid is there any way you can replace a motherboard socket with a differently pinned socket? like put a 1366 socket into an lga 775 mobo or something? just because i have an i7 920 lying around for funsies

No. Number of pins are different, so is the number of connections and task of each pin.
